Art captured my imagination at an early age. My grandfather,
who began painting when he retired, was one of my
first influences. He took me for walks and explained
how he painted trees by looking at their basic shapes
and the effect of the light on them. I had many supportive
teachers in grade school, high school, and college.
Their constant challenges let me know that they believed
in me and inspired me to complete a masters degree
in art.
Today the challenges continue as I attempt new media,
attend a variety of art shows, and sell my pieces
in different places. I have worked with metal and
pottery, and painted on canvas, pottery, and old windows.
I recently completed a mural on an exterior building
wall (at the corner of Blossom and Winton roads).
I enjoy playing with the translucency of the glass
and layers of paint. More recently I have been experimenting
with painting on my pottery. My daily involvement
with the production of art leads to new creations
and challenges.
I have participated in many art festivals and have
sold art at several local stores. My own desire to
always have something different creates the most difficult
challenges.
