I have been drawing and painting since the age of
three, and while pursuing academic degrees at the
University of Rochester (BA 1960) and the University
of Illinois (MA 1962) never stopped taking whatever
art courses I could fit into my schedule. I
am currently associated with Roselawn Gallery, in
Schoen Place, Pittsford, a respected gallery specializing
in quality art from local artists. In addition to
large water colors and acrylics I also paint miniatures
which have been in shows in Florida, Georgia, New
Jersey and Washington DC, and have received several
awards, including two "Best in Show" awards. In
December, 2002, three of my miniatures were in the
Miniature Show at Jane Law's Gallery, Long Beach,
NJ, one receiving a Merit Award. In January
2003 I will have two miniatures in the Miniature Art
Society of Florida's Annual International Miniature
Show. I have also become known for my ink
and water color renderings of homes, churches and
schools. My drawings were used to create a woven coverlet
to raise money for the local senior citizen center,
and I designed the series of Commemorative Irondequoit
Town Buttons which were used as money raisers during
the July 4th celebrations. At this time
I am working with another artist on a mural in the
Town Hall (second floor landing) featuring acrylic
paintings of local landmarks and historical scenes.
This winter, in addition to the out-of-town miniature
shows, I had work in the Rochester Art Club Show at
Harley School, and in the Center at High Falls Show
"Where Are the Best Paintings in Rochester?" As
a member of the Rochester Art Club and the Irondequoit
Art Club I have participated in many group and juried
shows over the past twenty years, occasionally receiving
awards for my work, and I have had several one person
exhibits at the Century Club and the American Association
of University Women in Rochester, as well as at Roselawn
Gallery.
