Title: "Continuity"
Artist: Jeffrey Kusz
Window Dimensions: 53" x 50"

I have been a commercial artist for the last 35 years. I am married to my wife of 36 years and have 2 adult children. Thirty-one years were spent working for the Democrat and Chronicle, and before it became defunct the Times-Union newspapers as a advertising designer and finished artist. Also during these years I worked as a freelance artist as time permitted and as opportunities arose. I also dabbled in the fine arts and took art classes during those years, while my wife and I were raising a family. I took an early retirement  from the paper in Nov. 1998 and have since been using my time taking art classes at The Memorial Art Galley and painting in different medias and techniques. I took on this challenge at the urging of friends, two of which are involved in "The Windows Project".

I intend to use the window as it stands, using each pane to depict a scene of the following:

1. A deer family in the foreground, with a panoramic view of Irondequoit Bay. Representing Parks and Wildlife.

2. A depiction of Irondequoit Town Hall. Representing "Community"

3. The third pane is to represent "Family" and depicts small children in a park eating ice cream cones.

4.  "Fun and Recreation" represented by Seabreeze Carousel horses.

5. "Irondequoit History" represented by a depiction of the Irondequoit Pioneer House

6. And the last pane is my interpretation of "Commerce and Business with a depiction of Irondequoit Melons which I enjoyed as a child.

The pictures are to be painted directly on glass in reverse ( from the back side of the glass). The details to be painted on first in black outline with colors overlaying the details as needed until the paintings are complete. The piece is to be done in an Art Nouveau style, with no blending of colors. So that each color stands on its own. It is not intended that the artwork be transparent, but to have a certain depth by applying the glass paint to the reverse side.
