Title: "Brass Ring Fantasy"
Artist: Elaina Cosner
Window Dimensions: 53" x 50"

Since the time I can remember I have been interested in art, always sketching or painting.  Years back, I worked for the City of Rochester as an art apprentice where I gained knowledge about pastel and acrylic painting techniques.  My work was subsequently displayed in the City of Rochester Atrium.  The techniques I learned were put to good use since I now create one-of-a-kind commissioned pieces for companies and individuals.

The reason I chose Brass Ring Fantasy as the title for my WOI window art is because of so many fond memories about the Sea Breeze Merry-go-round where I can clearly recall the wind on my face and a feeling of exhilaration as the ride gained momentum.  The horses were beautifully designed and hand-painted, and became so animated during the ride that they almost seemed real...a fantasy for any adult or child.

In addition, there was a mechanism mounted atop a wall near the Merry-go-round that housed steel and brass rings.  The brass rings were scant, however.  People would get on the ride an wait until it was a full throttle, slant their bodies sideways while standing on the edge of the Merry-go-round platform, and then try to hook a finger onto one of the rings that would hang from the mechanism.  As one ring was snatched, another one would slide into place.  It was a status symbol  and a free ride for anybody who was lucky enough to grab onto a brass ring, and my aunts and uncles had a fun time trying.  Their surprised and happy looks, when they did have a brass ring in their possession, captured those special carousel moments for me; thus, Brass Ring Fantasy.
