"Rochester General Hospital is pleased to be part of
an initiative that
supports a brighter future for children and youth. We have
valued our
experiences with West Irondequoit students through volunteer
and
school-to-work opportunities and we look forward to continuing
these
partnerships."

Ewing, VP, Marketing and Public Relations for ViaHealth

"As all good art, windows illuminate and provide a
symbolic and literal view
of the world. As architects, we enthusiastically support
the connection of
art, architectural heritage, and the community, with The Windows Project."
Howard
W. Waltz, AIA, Senior Associate, Clark Patterson Associates

"I
love Irondequoit; I would never want to live anywhere else.
I¹m delighted
to do what I can to call attention to this wonderful town
and to support the
schools because they gave my children and now my grandchild
a great
education."
Stanley Gordon, portrait painter

"The Windows Project project answers a creative quandary
I'd been
trying to resolve for months: how to use family photos I
inherited when my
mother died. The photos won't last much longer and I don't
want the memories
lost. I feel very fortunate that a purpose fell in my lap.
The best of the
photos are from the 1920s in Irondequoit, so I can use them
as references
for a painting that really is a window on Irondequoit."
Mary Kay Colling, painter and printmaker

"The Windows Project is providing me with a great
opportunity to engage
on an artistic level with IHS, my old alma mater. I can
clearly recall the
long hours spent in class, staring through those very same
old wooden
windows, watching the shadows of the wonderful tree in the
courtyard creep
painstakingly across the brick surface on the opposite wall...
daydreaming
of a future which I could have never guessed would be centered
around
filling endless other windows with my own compositions of
color and light!"
Peter McGrain, stained glass artist

"My wife, Donna, and I have had five children learn
and grow in one of the
best community-supported school systems a parent could wish
for. Joining in
the The Windows Project project seems a natural way to
give back a
measure of thanks to Irondequoit's schools."
Steve
Merritt, potter

"One day I received a salvaged window that was to be
filled with art. The
scene I chose--a street lined with beauty showing a caring
community--turned
into an abstract collage titled 'Dance of the Lamps.'"
Bing
Thayer, watercolor and collage

"We
all feel that The Windows Project is a very creative
charity function
that we wish to support. The wonderful idea of putting these
windows to good
use vs. destroying them was ingenious. We can't wait to
see all the windows
completed and exhibited all over town. It will be such a
beautiful artistic
display for everyone to enjoy. We wish the Foundation much
success with this
project, and we are very proud to be a part of it."

"I enjoyed the challenge of designing the window to
combine both media that
I have been working with most recently: wood carving and
rustic stick work."
Craig Wilson, wood and metal worker and sculptor

"I really enjoyed working on the 'Windows' project.
As an artist, I
sometimes enjoy working on something that is a little outside
of my regular
discipline. It challenges my thought process and stimulates
my creative
process."
Margery Pearl Gurnett, glass artist
